On the 21st May the Sun will move out of Taurus and into Gemini, the last sign of Spring and the first air sign in the zodiac. As the third sign of the Spring triplicity, Gemini is a mutable sign. Mutable signs are flexible and and adaptable.
Looking at the element air now, all air signs have logic and intellect at their core. The air signs are also relational, and Gemini represents geographically close relationships, it's symbol being the twins. When we were growing up, that was our siblings and classmates. As adults it is our neighbours and those in close proximity.

You would expect relational signs to be emotional, but the air signs are not. They deal in facts. It is the communication and sharing aspect of the air signs that gives rise to relationship.
Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which thankfully went direct on the 15th May. So Gemini is all about learning, gathering data, talking (Gemini’s love to talk) and thinking. This is the sign of communication. Gemini is naturally sociable. The Roman God Mercury was the messenger, translator to the gods.

Mercury is also changeable. We’ve all probably heard the term mercurial for some-one whose mind changes readily and can flit from one thing to another. That is Gemini, easily bored. The Gemini disposition is talkative and friendly, interested in learning, but the downside is Gemini may not be particularly reliable as they readily change their minds and get bored easily.
As the natural ruler of Gemini Mercury works well in this sign being naturally communicative and gathering data and facts. Jupiter on the other hand does not work well in Gemini. Jupiter, as the largest planet in the solar system, expands whatever it sits next to, or wherever it is residing. Thinking is well and good, overthinking not so much. Jupiter in Gemini gets bogged down in data and can’t see the woods for looking at trees.
In order to find balance, we look to the opposite sign of the zodiac, which is Sagittarius. And when the Sun is in Gemini, the full Moon when it comes will be in Sagittarius, asking us to find balance. While Gemini is busy gathering data and chatting away, Sagittarius is looking at the bigger picture and searching for a deeper meaning and truth. While Gemini is focussed on local matters and the neighbourhood, Sagittarius is going beyond and looking at the whole world. In order to be balanced we need both, we need to gather the facts and share ideas, we need a neighbourhood, but we also need to see beyond our immediate environment, and which "facts" are true? So when the full Moon comes this cycle it is a good time to reflect on what data is true for us, what has deeper meaning, and what is a bit superfluous.

Towards the end of the Sun’s transit through Gemini, on the 17th June, Saturn turns retrograde, until 4th November. This happens pretty much yearly. Saturn is the planet of karma and life lessons. When it turns retrograde, it is a time to reflect on what we have learnt. Are we living how we want to be, is it in line with our higher purpose? These are particularly good questions to ask as this Saturn retrograde is occurring in the sign of Pisces, which is a deeply spiritual sign. It is also good under retrograde Saturn to have a reality check. Look at your dreams and visions. What are you doing to make those real? Is there a plan in place and how is it working?
