Tomorrow we have our first full Moon of the Spring season in relationship loving Libra. Full moons occur when the Moon is directly opposite the Sun and are the only time in the lunar cycle when the Moon is visible all night.
As new Moons are considered to be new beginnings, full Moons are the peak point, where it comes to a head. At full Moon, the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs of the zodiac so there is maximal tension between opposites. The Moon is visible in it fullest reflecting back the Sun's light so full Moons are a time for reflection, to see our shadows, much of which are hidden for the remainder of the cycle, and completely hidden at new Moon.
When the full Moon is in Libra, the Sun is moving through Aries. Aries is about putting oneself forward, pioneering and being courageous. It is the sign of beginnings and of new energy. When the Moon becomes full in Libra it is a reminder that no-one can be truly independent. We all need the love and support of others. So this full Moon is a time to reflect on our relating habits.
This full Moon shares Libra with the South Node. The South Node represents the past and behaviours that come to use easily (but without the balance of the North Node can be unhelpful). When working on the North Node, currently in Aries, which is very much about developing ourselves, this full Moon reminds us of our shadow side in the form of the South Node. Often relationships are mirrors that show us the parts of ourselves that are not yet healed and this is particularly so at this full Moon with its proximity to the South Node.
The ruler of Libra is Venus, which is in Pisces giving this full Moon a dream like quality. When working well Pisces is intuitive, loving and gentle. When working not so well, we can be beset with illusions and deception. So it is important to ensure we are grounded and that it is our intuition we are tapping into and not just a dream.
This full Moon we also have a lunar eclipse making everything a bit more powerful. Eclipses are said to be times of change and transformation, lasting up to 6 months from the time of the eclipse. Astrology is much about symbolism, and at the lunar eclipse the Earth's shadow obscures the light reflected from the Moon. Rather than seeing the light of the Moon, we quite literally see our own shadow. It is in the early hours of the morning, starting at 4.53am and ending at 6am on 25th March 2024. I'll be honest...I won't be seeing it, but I will be aware of it thanks to it's proximity to my natal Pluto. And in Libra this in an eclipse where perhaps through our relationships we also meet our shadows and are faced with what we need to change in ourselves.
Lunar and solar eclipses travel together, so the lunar eclipse is followed by a solar eclipse on the 8th April, all of which will be in the sign of Aries. Solar eclipses occur at new Moon, when the Moon obscures the Sun, and depending on where we are becomes visible. The solar eclipse in Aries will be a powerful point for new beginnings.
Happy days and namaste
xx
